YardTrack
Yard Track was born out of a simple necessity. The need to find what you need as quickly as possible. I work in at a warehouse as what’s called a switcher. A switcher’s responsability is to grab trailers and containers and park them at doors for the warehouse to unload and load and then putting them back in the yard. So all day people are asking for trailers that they need at the yard. Unfortunately as big as a company as they are and as much movements as we do, they do not have a system that tracks where each trailer is. This caused a pretty big

Step-by-Step Solutions
I started small, but it was a solid start. The problem in this yard isn’t just that there is no way to keep track of the where the trailers are but also the fact that becuse the yard is smaller so trailers are often stacked 2 to 3 trailers in a row, making it that much harder to find the one you are looking for. So the solution I came up with was simple. A way to track where each trailer is. But it was not perfect at first. This required someone walking the entire yard and put them all on an excel sheet that would be a live cloud document that we could then use to look up each trailer and move them as needed.

Elegant Solutions
Yard Tracker was born as the simplest solution to work from step 1 all the way through to the end. So on yardtracker, you create log ins for the drivers that use it and the inbound and outbound gates. So when a trailer comes in it is inputted in the system as unslotted, then the as the driver who brought the trailers exits and notates where he parked the trailer, the outbound gate updates the trailer with its current location. Now when a switcher is asked for that trailer they can easily find it and bring it to a door.
